Fort Lauderdale's harbour is Port Everglades, and it sits inside the North American Emission Control Area, so vessels must be on ECA-compliant low-sulphur fuel; plan the changeover before arrival. The port is first and foremost a petroleum import and distribution hub: tankers land roughly 12.5 million gallons of refined products a day into the shoreside terminals, and road tankers then load about 8,000 to 12,000 gallons each to supply stations across twelve counties. Seventeen petroleum terminal and pipeline companies operate inside the port under state and federal rules and the port's own tariff.
For ships, marine bunkering is barge-based, and LNG bunkering by barge to cruise ships is now established here. Suppliers list barge, truck and pipeline delivery, with marine diesel among the grades.
