BUNKERFUELPRICES

Gothenburg bunker prices

SEGOT · SE · Major bunkering hub · Emission Control Area · EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime apply

Estimated · VLSFO · not observed at Gothenburg
$659–$795/MT

Arithmetic on the 6 nearest ports where a price was observed, weighted by distance. Nobody has quoted this at Gothenburg, and it carries nothing about the barge, the volume or your credit — which is what actually sets the number.

Why there is no assessment here yet

Only 0 observations in the last 72 hours. We publish an assessment from 3 or more.

No price is published for this port yet. Our assessment is built only from what we observe here — prices suppliers submit to us, quotes received against requests raised here, and stems that close — so it appears once this port has traffic. A request raised now still reaches suppliers; it does not wait for an index.

Our own assessment, computed from observations made on this platform: prices submitted by suppliers, quotes received against requests raised here, and stems that closed. Weighted by how firm each observation is (a closed stem counts three times a list price), by how recent it is, and by parcel size. Values more than 15% from the median are excluded. No third-party assessment is used as an input, and no number is published from fewer than three observations or fewer than two independent sources.

Taking fuel at Gothenburg

Operational notes, from the port authority and the suppliers’ own published documents. Checked 2026-08-31.

Gothenburg handles bunkering in its Energy Port and runs it as a controlled operation. The port offers conventional fuels plus LNG, methanol and biofuels, with bunker and berth-planning notices tied to berths 512–518. Every bunker barge working inside the harbour and in the anchorage areas outside the harbour limit must meet the port's "Green Bunkering" requirements: annual inspections by authorised independent inspectors, and prior vetting by an oil major under OCIMF's SIRE programme, with the port's own officers free to spot-check a barge alongside. The requirement covers oil, LNG and slop/sludge barges alike, and crew directly involved in bunkering must hold the required e-learning certificate.

Simultaneous operations carry extra rules: if the receiving ship is loading or discharging a low-flash cargo (flash point ≤30 °C), the bunker barge's deck equipment must be ATEX-approved within the ATEX zone and separately certified before the SIMOPS bunker is allowed. Remember Gothenburg lies inside the SECA and that EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime apply, which shape fuel choice as much as any berth rule.

Not published anywhere we could find
  • The bunkering page does not publish a maximum stem size or a barge pumping rate.
  • It does not name the physical suppliers operating in the port or their vessel-size limits.
  • The detailed LNG and methanol operating regulations are provided only as downloadable PDFs (dated 2019 and 2023) that were not read here, so their specific limits are unconfirmed.

Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.

VLSFO observed at the 6 nearest priced ports

The working behind the estimate above.

Those are prices at those ports, not at Gothenburg, and the distances are great-circle rather than routed. The estimate above is arithmetic on them — it carries no information about the barge, the volume or your credit, which is what actually sets the number. A request is the only way to get a real one.

Indicative only. Typical stem time here is about 8 hours alongside.

Indicative, delivered basis. Source: a licensed feed. Not an offer to sell — a firm price exists only once a supplier has quoted.

A lower headline price at another port is not automatically a saving. Deviation burns fuel and charter hire, and a bunker-only call costs port time.

Gothenburg bunkering FAQ

What is the bunker price at Gothenburg today?
No price is published at Gothenburg. The closest port where one is, is Rotterdam, about 439 nautical miles away — VLSFO at $663 a tonne.
Is Gothenburg a cheap bunkering port?
Whether a port is cheap for your vessel depends on the deviation cost, not just the headline price — reaching a cheaper port costs charter hire and fuel.
Does EU ETS apply at Gothenburg?
Gothenburg is in the EU/EEA, so voyages to, from and within it fall under the EU Emissions Trading System, and FuelEU Maritime applies to ships of 5,000 GT and above. That adds a real per-tonne cost that a headline bunker price does not show.
