Kingston's edge is that the fuel is made on the spot: VLSFO, HSFO and low-sulphur MGO are refined locally at Petrojam's Kingston refinery and carried out to ships by bunker barge. Since 1 June 2025 that barge has been operated by Scott Petroleum, a local supplier of more than twenty years, now supplying fuel for TFG Marine at both the Port of Kingston and Jamaica's north coast (TFG Marine). Because it is barge-delivered from local supply, Kingston can top a vessel up without breaking its transshipment routine.
The port itself handles roughly 2,500 vessels a year and is built around one large container/transshipment terminal plus smaller berths for tankers, general cargo and bulk carriers (Dan-Bunkering). What the published sources do not tell you is whether the barge comes alongside at the berth or works you at anchorage, what notice the supplier wants, or the maximum stem the barge can lift in one visit. Those are supplier and agent questions, not port-published figures, so confirm them before you count on a big stem here.
