Taking fuel at Novorossiysk
Operational notes, from the port authority and the suppliers’ own published documents. Checked 2026-09-02.
At Novorossiysk, bunkers (IFO/MGO, lubricants) are delivered by barge or ex-shoreline/pipeline at the Sheskharis oil terminal; fresh water comes by truck or shoreline. At Sheskharis berths 1–8, tankers can receive fuel ex-pipeline simultaneously with loading, but bunkering ex-barge alongside the pier during loading is not allowed — barge delivery is done at the roads either before or after cargo operations. Bunkering at other port berths (Nos. 1–41) is carried out by bunker barges; bunkering on the outer roads requires the Harbour Master's permission and favourable weather, with oil-spill response means ready. At anchorage, vessels must keep watch on VHF ch 09/16; winter weather can cause significant delays and extra launch costs. Pilots are arranged only through the agent; tankers must always keep emergency bunker supply sufficient to unmoor and proceed to roads if ordered. Novorossiysk is not an ECA, so standard MARPOL global sulphur limits (0.50% m/m) apply — low-sulphur fuels meeting MARPOL are available via RN-Bunker/Rosneft Marine.
- notice/nomination lead time required
- max barge delivery rate
- night bunkering restrictions at roads
- current fuel prices/availability
Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.

A lower headline price at another port is not automatically a saving. Deviation burns fuel and charter hire, and a bunker-only call costs port time.
Novorossiysk bunkering FAQ
- What is the bunker price at Novorossiysk today?
- The table above shows the latest indicative prices at Novorossiysk (RUNVS) for each grade we track, updated daily. These are market indications, not offers — the price you pay depends on quantity, delivery window, specification, your payment terms and your credit position with the supplier.
- Is Novorossiysk a cheap bunkering port?
- At the last update Novorossiysk was showing $800/MT for VLSFO. Whether that is genuinely cheap for your vessel depends on deviation: reaching a port that is $10/MT cheaper is not a saving if it costs a day of charter hire and the fuel burned getting there.
- Does EU ETS apply at Novorossiysk?
- Novorossiysk is outside the EU/EEA, so EU ETS does not apply to a call here in itself. It may still apply to the voyage legs if your vessel is heading to or from an EU port.
