Malaga bunker prices
ESAGP · ES · Emission Control Area · EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime apply
Arithmetic on the 6 nearest ports where a price was observed, weighted by distance. Nobody has quoted this at Malaga, and it carries nothing about the barge, the volume or your credit — which is what actually sets the number.
Why there is no assessment here yet
Only 0 observations in the last 72 hours. We publish an assessment from 3 or more.
No price is published for this port yet. Our assessment is built only from what we observe here — prices suppliers submit to us, quotes received against requests raised here, and stems that close — so it appears once this port has traffic. A request raised now still reaches suppliers; it does not wait for an index.
Our own assessment, computed from observations made on this platform: prices submitted by suppliers, quotes received against requests raised here, and stems that closed. Weighted by how firm each observation is (a closed stem counts three times a list price), by how recent it is, and by parcel size. Values more than 15% from the median are excluded. No third-party assessment is used as an input, and no number is published from fewer than three observations or fewer than two independent sources.

Taking fuel at Malaga
Operational notes, from the port authority and the suppliers’ own published documents. Checked 2026-08-31.
At Malaga, conventional, bio and synthetic marine fuels are supplied either truck-to-ship (by tanker truck or container) or ship-to-ship by floating means, and the port authority's 2026 conditions confine these operations to Zona I, the port's sheltered waters. Supply is in principle available 24 hours a day, year-round, but only in good weather and daylight, or with adequate artificial lighting for ship-to-ship work, and the Port Operations Division can restrict timing on safety or environmental grounds.
Ship-to-ship requires advance authorisation on the prescribed form, and only one bunker barge or tanker may be conducting an STS supply in the port at any one time. No vessel may be bunkered while hot-work repairs are underway aboard. Every stem needs a MARPOL Annex VI bunker delivery note plus a sample taken per IMO MEPC.182(59), sealed and retained for at least twelve months. Treat placement, and any lift outside those sheltered waters, as something to clear with the Operations Division through your agent.
- The 2026 conditions for conventional/bio/synthetic fuels do not publish a maximum stem size, so ask the supplier what its barge or truck can lift.
- They do not publish bunker barge or tanker capacities.
- The conventional-fuels conditions confine supply to Zona I sheltered waters and give no provision for bunkering at anchorage; the ship-to-ship anchorage operation demonstrated in Malaga bay in June 2026 was LNG specifically, not conventional fuel.
Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.
The working behind the estimate above.
Those are prices at those ports, not at Malaga, and the distances are great-circle rather than routed. The estimate above is arithmetic on them — it carries no information about the barge, the volume or your credit, which is what actually sets the number. A request is the only way to get a real one.
Indicative only. Typical stem time here is about 8 hours alongside.

Not an offer to sell — a firm price exists only once a supplier has quoted.
A lower headline price at another port is not automatically a saving. Deviation burns fuel and charter hire, and a bunker-only call costs port time.
Malaga bunkering FAQ
- What is the bunker price at Malaga today?
- No price is published at Malaga. The closest port where one is, is Gibraltar, about 57 nautical miles away — VLSFO at $695 a tonne.
- Is Malaga a cheap bunkering port?
- Whether a port is cheap for your vessel depends on the deviation cost, not just the headline price — reaching a cheaper port costs charter hire and fuel.
- Does EU ETS apply at Malaga?
- Malaga is in the EU/EEA, so voyages to, from and within it fall under the EU Emissions Trading System, and FuelEU Maritime applies to ships of 5,000 GT and above. That adds a real per-tonne cost that a headline bunker price does not show.
