At Szczecin, bunkering is normally done alongside, at a berth accepted by the Harbour Master Office; bunkering at the roadstead or an anchorage is allowed only in justified cases, on the shipowner's request, with the harbour master setting the conditions and the requesting party bearing the cost (§149). Truck-to-ship bunkering is permitted at a berth, at a location the berth user prepares and the Harbour Master Office approves. A safety checklist must be completed before every bunkering and a copy sent to the Harbour Master Office afterwards. When no oil-transhipment berth is free, a bunker barge may lie at an indicated berth under an instruction from the ship's owner that the Port Rescue Service has reviewed and the Director of the Maritime Office in Szczecin has approved (§114). Note that the floating-boom requirement the regulation imposes on other bulk-oil transhipment expressly does not apply to bunkering (§148). Reach is set by the Swinoujscie-Szczecin fairway: vessels calling at Szczecin may not exceed 215 m LOA, 31 m beam or 9.15 m draught (§56), and ships over 1,000 GT need valid bunker-oil civil-liability insurance to enter or leave.
- The regulation sets no maximum bunkering stem size; this must be agreed with the supplier.
- The 215 m LOA / 31 m beam / 9.15 m draught figures are the Swinoujscie-Szczecin fairway limits for the port of Szczecin, not a bunkering-specific rule; the roadstead maximum-draught table in the regulation applies to the Swinoujscie roadstead, not to Szczecin berths.
- ECA 0.10% sulphur, EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime obligations are EU-level and are not addressed in the port regulation.
