Taking fuel at New Mangalore
Operational notes, from the port authority and the suppliers’ own published documents. Checked 2026-09-02.
Bunkering at New Mangalore is supplied mainly by Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), which holds the port bunkering contract with New Mangalore Port Trust (5-year agreement, ~90,000 tonnes minimum annually). Fuel is delivered at berth, at anchorage, or offshore — including to vessels anchored outside international waters — using shore pipeline, barge, or tank trucks depending on availability. Buyers must send a Bunker Nomination (vessel name, IMO number, ETA, quantity, grade, sulphur limit, delivery method) and give 72/48-hour approximate and 24-hour definite arrival notice. Deliveries run day and night but Saturdays, Sundays and public/port holidays are excluded, and are always subject to weather, customs and port permissions. The port is NOT in an ECA: since 1 Jan 2020, fuel above 0.5% sulphur requires prior Directorate General of Shipping approval submitted at least 48 hours before delivery; scrubber-fitted vessels must supply their EGS supplement certificate. Common grades include MGO, VLSFO, HSFO and ULSD. Broker Dan-Bunkering also serves the port.

A lower headline price at another port is not automatically a saving. Deviation burns fuel and charter hire, and a bunker-only call costs port time.
New Mangalore bunkering FAQ
- What is the bunker price at New Mangalore today?
- The table above shows the latest indicative prices at New Mangalore (INNML) for each grade we track, updated daily. These are market indications, not offers — the price you pay depends on quantity, delivery window, specification, your payment terms and your credit position with the supplier.
- Is New Mangalore a cheap bunkering port?
- At the last update New Mangalore was showing $998/MT for VLSFO. Whether that is genuinely cheap for your vessel depends on deviation: reaching a port that is $10/MT cheaper is not a saving if it costs a day of charter hire and the fuel burned getting there.
- Does EU ETS apply at New Mangalore?
- New Mangalore is outside the EU/EEA, so EU ETS does not apply to a call here in itself. It may still apply to the voyage legs if your vessel is heading to or from an EU port.
