At Tuticorin, bunker fuel (VLSFO, HSFO, LSMGO/MGO, HSD) is supplied mainly by IndianOil, which serves the port via its coastal distribution network, with Seven Ocean and ASK Tankers (DGS-authorised) also active. Delivery is by barge-to-ship as the primary method, serving the anchorage and commercial berths; truck-to-ship is available for LSMGO and HSD, suited to smaller stems and quick turnarounds, and some FO/MGO deliveries are made by truck at the warp during daylight, with pipeline delivery via certain berths. Availability is generally reliable for standard stems, but the port sees less bunker traffic than Chennai or Paradip, so spot availability should be confirmed 48–72 hours before nomination for larger fuel oil quantities. Buyers must send a bunker nomination with vessel details, ETA, grade, quantity, sulphur content and delivery method, and give 72/48 hours approximate and 24 hours definite notice of arrival; all port/statutory permits must be obtained by the vessel beforehand. Tuticorin is not an ECA: 0.50% sulphur VLSFO applies, and HSFO above 0.5% sulphur requires prior DG Shipping approval submitted at least 48 hours before delivery. Delivery is subject to weather, customs and port permissions.
