Nothing published by the port or by the physical suppliers establishes a bunker barge or an ex-pipe connection at Aarhus, and that is the single most important planning fact here. Bunker One lists its Danish storage and its barge, truck and ex-pipe supply at Skagen and Copenhagen only; Malik Energy publishes a port-by-port list of its Danish barges, pipelines and tank facilities covering Esbjerg, Frederikshavn, Hirtshals, Hvide Sande, Hanstholm, Thyborøn and Skagen, and Aarhus does not appear on it. Dan-Bunkering, which quotes Aarhus, offers only to advise on the suitability of your intended berth and on the delivery methods available, and names marine gas oil, VLSFO, HSFO and ultra-low-sulphur diesel as the grades common in the area. Treat a stem here as a delivery brought to your berth, and settle with the supplier before fixing whether it comes by road tanker or by a barge positioned from elsewhere. The port's own tariff does include fender hire, given as an example for ship-to-ship work, so a barge alongside is at least contemplated. Two local requirements bite. The Regulation of Order requires a fire and hose watch throughout any loading or discharge of oil products, from the moment the ship-shore connection is made until it is fully dismantled, and every vessel arriving, departing or shifting berth must call the port on VHF channel 12 at least thirty minutes beforehand. The business terms require a call to be notified at the latest 24 hours before arrival, oblige ships over 80 metres to use approved linesmen at the quay, and exempt only medical and weather-refuge calls from ship dues, so a bunkers-only call pays them in full.
