Conventional fuel is simple enough: Moeve lists Barcelona among its supply ports, offering ULSFO and MGO alongside the traditional HSFO, delivered by barge and by tanker truck.
LNG is where Barcelona is unusual. The port authority reports 236,946 m³ supplied in 2025, up 3 per cent, over 547 operations: 447 by tanker truck for 47,593 m³ and 100 from barge for 189,353 m³, about 106 m³ a truck job against 1,894 a barge job, so the method decides the size of the stem. The barge is the Haugesund Knutsen of Knutsen-Scale Gas, permanently based in the port since the start of 2023, and the authority says she ran several months of 2025 at maximum operational capacity.
The same release says raising volume needs more suppliers and more barges, that the commercial LNG service specification is still being drafted with a simplified authorisation by receiving ship type, and that the first barge supplies to container ships and to ships at anchor are only planned for 2026. In July 2026 Repsol put 2,800 tonnes of bioethanol into the 16,000 TEU Antonia Maersk from the Bahía Candela.
- Moeve publishes no maximum stem size, pumping rate or barge names for Barcelona.
- The port authority does not break the 100 LNG barge operations of 2025 down by receiving ship type, so no vessel mix can be stated for that year.
- No source read gives the Haugesund Knutsen's capacity, or says what maximum operational capacity means in cubic metres or in days.
- Neither the authority nor Moeve publishes a list of licensed conventional bunker suppliers, or the number of conventional barges working the port.
- No notice period or booking lead time is published for conventional or for LNG bunkering.
Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.
