Prezzi bunker a Napier

Napier has no bunkering point. The port's marine fact sheet says it in as many words: bunkers are supplied by road tanker only. The national register of marine fuel suppliers lists four companies at Napier, Allied Petroleum, BP Oil New Zealand, Gull and McFall Fuel, and every one of them supplies marine gas oil at ultra-low sulphur, 0.10% or less. No residual grade is registered for the port at all, so a VLSFO stem is not a Napier proposition.

Fuel is taken alongside, and it competes for the berth. Two South is the petroleum berth, port side to, with the manifold no more than 94 metres from the bow, and the port's berthing rules treat bunkering as a reason to shift ships at the mover's expense: their own worked example takes a log vessel from 1 Wharf to 2 South to bunker and bills that vessel for the move. Laying over to bunker needs the port's permission. On the container berths the window is unforgiving, twelve hours minimum, cargo completed by window end plus an hour's grace, and the berth vacated if a waiting ship has booked it correctly. Fuel is therefore either fitted inside a call at 2 South or paid for twice, in the shift and in the time.

Every bunker operator must hold a Tier 1 oil spill plan approved by Hawke's Bay Regional Council, and permission comes in advance from the port's duty safety advisor. Heavy easterly swell can prevail and sets westerly across the entrance; shore moorings are used for tankers and in swell. No maximum stem is published.
