At Kobe conventional bunkers come off a lighter: findaport lists fuel as available by lighter, meaning barge alongside rather than a shore pipeline, so nominate your supplier and grade early. LNG is now a live option in the wider bay. Osaka Gas, through affiliate Osaka Bay LNG Shipping, began ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in Osaka Bay and the Seto Inland Sea from the vessel's launch in April 2026, using the newbuild bunker vessel Seto Azure (86.29 m long, about 4,350 GT, with an IMO Type C tank of roughly 3,610 cbm). Read that carefully: it is a bay and inland-sea STS service across the region, not a fixed berth at Kobe, so if you need LNG confirm the meeting point rather than assuming it happens on the Kobe wall. The deepest tanker draft findaport lists for Kobe is 12.6 m, against 16.0 m for container vessels, so a laden tanker taking bunkers is nearer the port's draft limit than a box ship.
