Salalah's bunkering runs through APM Terminals' partner Fujairah Engineering Co. (FECO), which supplies both vessels calling the port and ships passing en route. Per the terminal, FECO delivers LSMGO and VLSFO by the 3,420 DWT barge Sea Dweller and can also put gasoil onto berths by road tanker; it draws on the port's 100,000 MT liquid-fuel tank farm and can supply while a ship is alongside or at anchor. Any bunkering, repair or provisioning must be communicated to the Port of Salalah Planning Department at least 48 hours before arrival and is only allowed after the port's approval, subject to its safety and security procedures. The port's container-terminal guidelines are explicit that these activities must not delay stevedoring and should finish inside the vessel's operational working time; only in exceptional cases will cargo work be stopped or port time extended for them. In short, nominate early, expect the stem to fit around cargo, and confirm grade availability with FECO rather than assuming.
- The container-terminal operational guidelines set no maximum bunker stem size, so the stem ceiling must be established with FECO.
- The terminal page lists LSMGO and VLSFO but not HSFO; HSFO availability is not confirmed in the sources read.
- Neither the APM bunkering page nor the port guidelines state whether anchorage bunkering is suspended during the June-September southwest monsoon.
Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.
