Puerto Cortes is Honduras's main Caribbean gateway; its supplier's own material calls it the largest and busiest seaport in Central America, and bunkers reach ships here by barge. The established operator, Bay Island Petroleum (BIP), works the port from a small fleet: its largest barges, BIP MAR I and BIP MAR II, carry 680 and 420 tonnes, the latter pumping about 125 tonnes an hour, backed by the smaller ZEAL TIDE (350 t) and SOUTH TIDE (115 t) at roughly 47 to 62 tonnes an hour. Those parcel sizes and pump rates mark this as a port for modest stems delivered slowly, not fast cape-scale lifts.
Marine gas oil is the mainstay; product listed for the port also includes high-sulphur fuel oil and ULSD, and the delivery options shown are barge, pipeline and truck. Plan on a barge alongside at the berth.
