At Montreal the published bunkering picture is the LNG service: fuel is delivered truck-to-ship by cryogenic tank truck, supplied by Energir from its Montreal liquefaction, storage and regasification plant, at two refuelling sites set up to cut waiting time for LNG-fuelled vessels; the service has run well over a hundred operations. A barge-based LNG supply is described only as under study, for when demand appears, so do not assume afloat delivery yet.
The Port controls who may bunker: service providers must obtain an operating permit through the Port's audit system, and the bunkering vessel or equipment must be certified by a classification society approved by Transport Canada. Conventional grades in the Montreal market include MGO, VLSFO, HSFO and ULSD (per a supplier listing). Because Montreal is a St-Lawrence river port, confirm delivery method (afloat versus truck), berth suitability and any seasonal navigation constraints with your supplier and agent, as the port pages read do not state them.
