Laem Chabang is Thailand's main deep-sea box and multipurpose port, on the Gulf of Thailand at Sriracha, Chonburi. Bunkers here go aboard by barge, and the port information sheet is blunt that you need to give sufficient advance notice, so this is not a place to expect a same-day stem; book the barge through your supplier well ahead. Lightening service is likewise arranged only on advance notice.
The approach is a dredged entrance channel about 2.5 nautical miles long and roughly 300 m wide carrying 14.0 m, with a 1,300 m breakwater. The sheet gives a channel draft limit of 14.00 m at mean sea level, approximately 12 m at lowest low water, so deep vessels must watch the tide, which ranges between +0.90 m and +2.30 m on Thai chart datum. The main container berths (B1 to B5) run to 14.0 m depth and take vessels up to about 50,000 dwt. Pilotage is compulsory, night entry and sailing are possible, and Port Control works VHF channels 14 and 16.
