At Kandla, bunkers are delivered by barge, truck-to-ship, or shore pipeline. Barge-to-ship is the primary method at the outer anchorage, with six regional bunker barges normally in service; truck-to-ship serves LSMGO and smaller HSD volumes at berth, and shore pipeline is available at limited berths. Methanol supply is trial-phase only. Vessels anchor southwest of Tuna Buoy (2–3 nm) within port limits and report to Kandla Tower on VHF Ch 08/16. Buyers must send a bunker nomination (vessel name, IMO number, port, ETA, quantity, grade, max sulphur, delivery method) to the supplier's port sales office, with 72/48-hour approximate and 24-hour definite arrival notices; vessel pumping pressure, hose connection details, and any defects must be advised 48 hours before delivery. Delivery is subject to weather, customs and port permissions, and no fuel is supplied without required port/statutory permits. Kandla is not in an ECA, but since 1 January 2020 fuels above 0.5% sulphur require prior DG Shipping (Mumbai) approval submitted to the supplier at least 48 hours before delivery. Berthing/unberthing to buoy moorings is restricted to daylight hours.
