Klaipeda is Lithuania's deep-water gateway on the Baltic and one of the few ice-free ports in the north-eastern Baltic, so it works year-round without an ice season shutting bunkering down. The approach channel has been dredged to 15.5 m and the port can take ships up to about 400 m long with draughts up to 14.3 m, so large vessels can be serviced at the quay.
You are inside the Baltic ECA, which is the single most important operational point for a client here: you must burn an ECA-compliant grade, in practice a low-sulphur distillate, and EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime apply on top.
The port is pushing hard into alternative fuels — methanol-powered box ships already call, a green-methanol bunker vessel is being designed for local shallow-water bunkering routes, and a green-hydrogen production and supply station opened in 2026. Conventional fuel-oil bunkering, however, is not described in the port authority's public material that could be read for this note, so the delivery arrangements should be settled directly with the supplier.
