Taking fuel at Paranagua

At Paranagua the fuel is Petrobras's and the request goes to them through your agent. Transpetro's terminal booklet for TEPAR describes two routes. Alongside the pier the terminal supplies directly by pipeline, pumping through 4-inch hoses for MGO at 100 m3/h and 8-inch hoses for marine fuel at 600 m3/h. For ships lying offshore, supply is by barge; the barges themselves load at the terminal's 100-metre secondary pier, which takes barges to 19 feet draught and is loaded with MGO and VLSFO.
The two pier berths, PP-1 and PP-2, both take 11.60 metres draught and 190 metres LOA, at maximum deadweight 110,000 and 80,000 tonnes respectively; both require a pilot, and manoeuvres run 24 hours a day. NOR is tendered at the usual port anchorage, the docking schedule is regulated by APPA, and ships bound for the flammables pier must pass ETA through the agent at least 24 hours ahead to be scheduled.
One rule to plan around: unauthorised vessels may not lie alongside or near a moored ship. Only vessels the terminal has authorised in advance may, and then only outside the ship's operating period.
- The booklet gives no maximum stem size, either alongside by pipeline or by barge offshore.
- There is no notice period specific to a bunker request - the 24-hour ETA rule is for ships booked to the flammables pier, not for bunkers.
- The booklet names neither the barge operator nor the barges, and gives no barge capacities or pumping rates.
- It does not say which anchorage offshore barge deliveries take place in; Areas 5 and 11 are described only for health-authority visits and for ships awaiting orders.
- Beyond 'MGO' and 'MF', no specification or sulphur grade is given for what the terminal pumps alongside.
Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.
