Darwin is a road-tanker port. Bailey's Marine Fuels runs its own bunker truck with a back-up, serving East Arm, Fort Hill Wharf and Fisherman's Wharf, where five dedicated bunker points are permanently in place for smaller offshore support and chase boats; Recharge Petroleum also supplies by truck, at Stokes Hill, Fort Hill, Fisherman's Wharf and Hudson Creek. There is a pipeline at East Arm, but it is diesel only, and Bailey's quotes 95 tonnes an hour there on 3-inch lines. The published product range is distillate and light grades, diesel, petrol, Avgas and Jet A-1; no operator or authority page shows a residual grade or a bunker barge working the port, so if you need fuel oil establish it before fixing. Darwin Port's Port Notice PN/002 governs the operation and covers East Arm and Fort Hill Wharf only. The night rule is what bites. The Northern Territory Marine Pollution Act prohibits fuel transfer between sunset and sunrise without an authorised officer's approval. East Arm holds a blanket approval and works around the clock, but Fort Hill is capped at 06:30 to 21:00 to limit truck noise in the adjoining residential area and to fit concurrent cruise operations, and a 06:30 start needs a Darwin Port employee present unless arranged in advance. If a stem looks like overrunning that window, the agent must apply in writing for an exemption through the Senior Manager, Landside Operations no less than three working days beforehand, so a late Fort Hill nomination cannot be rescued. The notice does not bar bunkering during cargo work, and it sets no maximum stem size.
