Lagos takes fuel two ways — by barge alongside or by road tanker — and both need advance notice placed through your agent. The commercial berths lie inside Apapa and Tin Can Island up the channel; a supplier will bring a barge to a vessel at the Lagos anchorage subject to Nigerian Ports Authority clearance and security clearance, or coordinate a berth delivery with the terminal. Grades routinely quoted are VLSFO 0.50% and LSMGO/MGO, with residual/HSFO described as limited availability; suppliers list VLSFO, HSFO, LSFO, MGO and LNG delivered by barge to vessels, rigs and offshore assets at anchorage.
Expect the usual paperwork: a Bunker Delivery Note and ISO 8217 sampling, with an independent surveyor the normal guard against off-spec sulphur, water and sediment. Draft decides where you sit — reference data lists tanker anchorage draft up to 13.0 m, bulk 12.5 m and container 12.0 m — so confirm your figures against the anchorage the supplier plans to work before fixing a stem.
