Taking fuel at Guam
Operational notes, from the port authority and the suppliers’ own published documents. Checked 2026-08-31.
Guam's commercial harbour is Apra, and there is no bunker barge lying alongside the way a large hub keeps one. Clipper Oil, one of the suppliers here, delivers fuel to the commercial piers by road tanker and by pipeline, and separately lists bunkering at sea for vessels that cannot come in. The grades it publishes for the port are marine gas oil and high sulphur fuel oil on the marine side, plus ultra low sulphur diesel; heavier residual grades beyond HSFO are not listed.
Because delivery is by truck and shore line rather than a large barge, treat the pumpable rate and the size of any single stem as things to pin down with the supplier before you fix, since a truck-fed operation moves far less per hour than a barge would. Guam sits outside the designated sulphur emission control areas, so there is no 0.10% cap forced on you at the berth by an ECA.
- Clipper Oil's Apra Harbor page publishes neither a maximum stem size nor a delivery or pumping rate.
- It does not state whether bunkering is permitted at anchorage inside Apra or only at the piers.
- The Port Authority of Guam's Harbor Rules and Regulations are posted only as a scanned PDF that could not be read in this task, so fuel-transfer permission and notice requirements could not be verified.
Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.
No price is published at Guam. The closest port where one is, is Tokyo, about 1,360 nautical miles away — VLSFO at $849 a tonne.
Tokyo →That is Tokyo's price, not this port's, and the distance is a great-circle estimate rather than a routed passage. It is here because a benchmark you can see the distance to is more use than a blank space.
Indicative only. Typical stem time here is about 8 hours alongside.
