Bahia Blanca is a deep-water estuary port reached by a long dredged channel. A local ship agent's port guide gives a 53-mile channel entered at Buoy 11, where pilots board and a Vessel Traffic Service works on VHF channel 73, with a maximum permissible draft of 13.70 m and a normal maximum length of about 275 m (longer for propane carriers at the Mega terminal). Tug assistance is compulsory and harbour speed is capped at 6 km/h.
For bunkers the same guide states fuel can be supplied by truck, by barge, or by pipeline at the Galvan No 1 berth. So a ship can take fuel alongside at that one liquid berth, or by road tanker or barge elsewhere in the Ingeniero White and Puerto Galvan complex that the Consorcio de Gestion del Puerto de Bahia Blanca administers. Any bunker call is arranged through the agent and supplier, not the port authority.
- The agent's guide names truck, barge and pipeline supply but gives no maximum bunker stem size or delivery rate.
- It does not say whether barge bunkering is allowed at the outer anchorage or Buoy 11, or only within the port jetties.
- The port authority's own general regulation (fetched as a PDF) did not yield a readable bunkering clause, so bunker conditions must be confirmed with the CGPBB or the agent.
- Draft figures differ between sources - the agent gives 13.70 m maximum draft while a port directory lists 13.9 m depth at the tanker berths - and per-berth depths are not broken out.
Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.
