Rades, on the Gulf of Tunis, is Tunisia's main container and roll-on/roll-off terminal, not a bunkering hub. Ships reach it through a dredged approach channel and turning basins cut to about 12 metres, and the berths are correspondingly shallow: the container quay carries roughly 9 metres alongside, and hydrocarbons and other liquid bulk are worked at a dedicated 170-metre berth with about 9.45 metres alongside. Four tugs and two pilot boats serve the port. This is a place sized for feeders, box ships and ro-ros, not deep-draft tankers.
Marine gas oil is the grade suppliers list for Tunisia, with high-sulphur fuel oil and ULSD also offered and Rades named among their supply points. Since 1 May 2025 the whole Mediterranean is a sulphur Emission Control Area, so fuel burned here must meet 0.10 percent, one more reason MGO leads.
