$579–$787/MT

Arithmetic on the 6 nearest ports where a price was observed, weighted by distance. Nobody has quoted this at Koper, and it carries nothing about the barge, the volume or your credit — which is what actually sets the number.

Why there is no assessment here yet

Only 0 observations in the last 72 hours. We publish an assessment from 3 or more.

No price is published for this port yet. Our assessment is built only from what we observe here — prices suppliers submit to us, quotes received against requests raised here, and stems that close — so it appears once this port has traffic. A request raised now still reaches suppliers; it does not wait for an index.

Our own assessment, computed from observations made on this platform: prices submitted by suppliers, quotes received against requests raised here, and stems that closed. Weighted by how firm each observation is (a closed stem counts three times a list price), by how recent it is, and by parcel size. Values more than 15% from the median are excluded. No third-party assessment is used as an input, and no number is published from fewer than three observations or fewer than two independent sources.

Taking fuel at Koper

Operational notes, from the port authority and the suppliers’ own published documents. Checked 2026-09-02.

Bunkering at the Port of Koper is available shore-to-ship. Petrol d.d. supplies high-quality, controlled marine diesel to commercial vessels, including cargo and cruise ships, both at berth and, under the Slovenian Official Gazette rules on tanker handling and bunkering in the Port of Koper, at the designated anchorage north of the safe-water mark at least one nautical mile offshore. Bunkering may only start once the responsible ship's officer and the supplier's responsible person complete and sign the ISGOTT bunker checklist, the 'B' flag (day) or red light (night) is displayed, the port concessionaire's anti-pollution craft and containment equipment is ready, warning signs are posted, spark arrestors are fitted on funnels, and the port's fire service is informed. Operations must stop immediately during thunderstorms, fire, spillage, or wind above 17 m/s in port (7 m/s at anchorage). Slovenia is in an ECA, so 0.10% m/m sulphur fuel applies in-port; MARPOL Annex VI requires a BDN per delivery, and EU ETS applies to the call.

Not published anywhere we could find
  • notice period / nomination lead time required by port authority or Petrol
  • night bunkering permitted?
  • typical stem time
  • barge vs truck delivery availability
  • EU ETS reporting requirements specific to this port

Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.

VLSFO observed at the 6 nearest priced ports

The working behind the estimate above.

Those are prices at those ports, not at Koper, and the distances are great-circle rather than routed. The estimate above is arithmetic on them — it carries no information about the barge, the volume or your credit, which is what actually sets the number. A request is the only way to get a real one.

Indicative only. Typical stem time here is about 8 hours alongside.

Not an offer to sell — a firm price exists only once a supplier has quoted.

A lower headline price at another port is not automatically a saving. Deviation burns fuel and charter hire, and a bunker-only call costs port time.

Koper bunkering FAQ

What is the bunker price at Koper today?
No price is published at Koper. The closest port where one is, is Livorno, about 189 nautical miles away — VLSFO at $549 a tonne.
Is Koper a cheap bunkering port?
Whether a port is cheap for your vessel depends on the deviation cost, not just the headline price — reaching a cheaper port costs charter hire and fuel.
Does EU ETS apply at Koper?
Koper is in the EU/EEA, so voyages to, from and within it fall under the EU Emissions Trading System, and FuelEU Maritime applies to ships of 5,000 GT and above. That adds a real per-tonne cost that a headline bunker price does not show.
