At Algiers bunkers are taken either by pipeline, which is available on most quays, or by barge. The port is run by Entreprise Portuaire d'Alger (EPAL) and stretches along the Bay of Algiers with 39 berths across its basins; berth depths run from 9 to 14 metres and the largest vessel handled is on the order of 14 m draft and 300 m LOA. The tanker berths themselves are dredged to about 10.3 m.
Documentation is the trap here. The port guide I read warns that customs rules are strictly interpreted and that ships arriving with incomplete or inaccurate papers have faced severe delays and penalties, so have everything in order before arrival rather than fixing it alongside.
