Granel Química Ltda. is the South American bulk-liquid storage company of the Odfjell Group (Odfjell Terminals South America), operating tank storage terminals rather than acting as a trader or broker. It runs 14 terminals in South America — 9 in Brazil (including Santos and Ladário), 2 in Argentina, 2 in Chile and 1 in Peru — with over 280,000 m³ of liquid storage capacity in Brazil and roughly 5 million tons handled annually. Its Brazilian history began in 1972 with construction of the Barnabé Island terminal on the left bank of the port of Santos.
