Taking fuel at Ushuaia
Operational notes, from the port authority and the suppliers’ own published documents. Checked 2026-09-02.
Bunkers at Ushuaia are supplied by YPF S.A., whose Terminal Orion plant (Perito Francisco Moreno 606) stores and dispatches marine fuels, including Marine Gas Oil, to vessels at the port, with its own Muelle Orion facility. Puerto Ushuaia is a provincial, public-use commercial port on the north shore of the Beagle Channel, serving cruise ships, fishing vessels, scientific ships and naval vessels, all of which take fuel alongside. Deliveries are coordinated by YPF under high-complexity logistics, often in extreme weather with strong winds and low temperatures; YPF also supplies marine lubricants. Coastal Petroleum Argentina SA also advertises supply of all bunker grades at Ushuaia year-round, round the clock, using tankers, bunker barges and tank trucks. Ushuaia is NOT in an Emission Control Area, so standard IMO global sulphur limits (0.50% sulphur) apply rather than 0.10% ECA limits. Exact notice periods, designated bunkering areas and any port-authority night/weather restrictions could not be confirmed from public sources.
- required nomination/notice period
- delivery method per supplier (barge vs truck vs pipeline)
- designated bunkering areas/anchorage spots
- night delivery limits
- weather/wind operational limits
- port-authority bunkering regulations
Ask the supplier to confirm these before you fix a stem on them.
No price is published at Ushuaia. The closest port where one is, is Bahia Blanca, about 996 nautical miles away — VLSFO at $802 a tonne.
Bahia Blanca →That is Bahia Blanca's price, not this port's, and the distance is a great-circle estimate rather than a routed passage. It is here because a benchmark you can see the distance to is more use than a blank space.
Indicative only. Typical stem time here is about 8 hours alongside.

Not an offer to sell — a firm price exists only once a supplier has quoted.
A lower headline price at another port is not automatically a saving. Deviation burns fuel and charter hire, and a bunker-only call costs port time.
