Bunker Board, 30 August 2026

No day-on-day moves are carried on today's board, so direction is against the reader's own records. The lows: Rotterdam VLSFO 663.0, Houston HSFO 468.5, Singapore MGO 1146.0. The highs: Los Angeles VLSFO 835.5, Los Angeles HSFO 693.5, New York MGO 1408.5. Brent 88.10 against WTI 83.44, 4.66 apart; EUA at 82.73, quoted in euros.

The widest same-grade gaps, worked on a 1,200 t stem: MGO New York 1408.5 against Singapore 1146.0 is 262.5/t, or $315,000 — 21 days of hire on a $15,000/day hull. HSFO Los Angeles 693.5 against Houston 468.5 is 225.0/t, $270,000, the same 18 days of hire. The Med VLSFO spread is 123.0/t, Piraeus 818.0 against Gibraltar 695.0 — $147,600, or 9.8 days at that hire — with Istanbul at 810.5, 115.5 over Gibraltar. Those tonnage figures are headline difference only. Hire for the days spent positioning is the first charge against them, and the fuel burned on the leg comes off what is left.

The HSFO discount to VLSFO is not uniform: 269.5/t in Santos (511.0 against 780.5), 211.0 in Houston (468.5 against 679.5), 124.5 in Rotterdam (538.5 against 663.0). The MGO premium over VLSFO runs from 349.0/t in Hong Kong to 675.0/t in New York. On the watch list: Panama Canal congestion, the Strait of Hormuz, the Baltic Dry Index, and the Briety v Trafigura case.
